and I load it in to a windowless room for 60RMB an hour

And I untangle leads, yell until my throat bleeds

Put in the guitar case with pliers and band aids

And we practice the set, try to pick our best songs
Check what time we’re expected there and what time we’re on
Tangle the leads again and load it upstairs
Drag it home over worn out bones just to get it on stage

And I stare at my frets, try to put one or two together that could help me, help me, help me to connect
But no matter who I am or where I’m going or what I’ve seen I guess I’ll never impress, the girl with the blue dress.

They said sound check was at 6, but I get there at 5
and why the fuck is the first band still sound checking at a quarter to 9?
Watch them play the same beats and try to find time to eat
But they promise they’ll be done soon as I slump in my seat
